Inclusionary Practices

SPED Inclusion Image

To improve educational success for our students with disabilities, we have made it a district wide initiative to provide inclusive education for all students to the greatest extent possible. Research supports the benefits of educating students with disabilities alongside their non-disabled peers. We have implemented specific steps, practices, & resource materials to make inclusive education a reality in Toppenish!

Toppenish School District was selected as a University of Washington Haring Center Inclusionary Practices Project Demonstration Site in Spring 2020.  In collaboration with the UW, Toppenish School District continues to highlight the following inclusionary practices:

  • Inclusive Mission and Vision
  • Differentiated Curriculum Planning and Instruction
  • Collaboration
